The Lemon Grove Library, 8073 Broadway, will host “Vegetarian Day @ Your Library” on Saturday, April 24, from 12 noon to 3 p.m. This one-day free event will offer a wide range of presentations and informational sessions on ethical, environmental, health and humanitarian benefits of a vegetarian lifestyle. The public is invited to sample a variety of vegetarian foods, fresh fruits and vegetables throughout the day, provided by participating restaurants and markets.
Speakers will cover such topics as the powerful and important disease-fighting nutrients in fruits and vegetables, such as vitamins, minerals and fiber. These nutrients can help reduce the risk of many cancers, heart disease, high blood pressure and diabetes.
The day's events will include:
A vegetarian sampling of foods from local markets and vendors.
Vegetarian and raw food cooking demonstrations and samples.
Resource tables, displays and promotional coupons, literature and giveaways.
A display of library materials on the subject.
Crafts for all ages.
